SAP SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG is almost here! Chances are, that means you already have a calendar full of events you’re planning on checking out (not to mention a handful of colleagues you’re itching to meet up with). Before you fly out, here’s how to prepare to get the most out of SAPPHIRE 2016:
Setting an Itinerary for SAPPHIRE NOW
You can’t afford to figure out your agenda once you get to SAPPHIRE — there’s just too much going on. There are over 1,700 sessions, including demos, panels and interactive sessions, and that doesn’t even count in-booth vendor presentations. An itinerary will help you catch the most important events, and make the conference much less stressful.
The SAP® SAPPHIRE NOW sample agendas have some great presentations from SAP employees, organized by industry, platform and other factors. Complement these with some sessions by innovative vendors and industry experts. Symmetry SAPPHIRE NOW presentations have something for everyone — compliance, migration, security, best practices and some really interesting case studies.
Demystifying SAP Compliance Management is a must-see for anyone looking to establish a simpler, more effective compliance program. Scott Goolik, Symmetry’s Vice President of Security & Controls, explains the purpose and basic requirements of GRC, how diverse regulatory regimes like SOX, HIPAA and 21 CFR Part 11 can fit together into a unified compliance approach and the role of outside experts and software like ControlPanelGRC in maintaining an effective security and compliance program.
Karma Automotive: Takeaways from Migrating SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA® is a great case study about creating an effective SAP upgrade strategy. Symmetry Basis Consultant Nickolas McCall joins Ketan Gohil, Karma Automotive Director of ERP, to explain the ins and outs of Karma’s recent upgrade from SAP ERP Central Component 6 to the SAP S/4HANA.
Get Ready to Network
No SAP SAPPHIRE NOW checklist is complete without a list of people to meet (and swap business cards with). This year’s Keynote Presentations feature SAP luminaries like CEO Bill McDermott and founding member, Professor Hasso Plattner, as well technological pioneer Steve Wozniak, and Cirque du Soleil’s innovative Executive Creative Director of Creations, Welby Altidor.
When you’re making a list of folks to meet, don’t forget to check out the vendors. Symmetry holds an in-booth networking happy hour on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00, where Vice President of SAP Solutions, Kevin Knuese, Technical Relationship Manager Matt Lonstine, and other Symmetry staff will be on hand to talk shop, answer questions and discuss IT solutions for your SAP landscape.
Schedule Some Downtime
With so much to see and do at the convention, taking a break can feel like slacking. But the truth is, you’ll do a better job of processing the information you’re taking in with some downtime, and dinner and drinks are a great way to solidify new professional connections. Here are a few of the more relaxing activities on our own SAPPHIRE NOW checklist.
- Fiorenzo Italian Steakhouse: Right inside the Orlando Hyatt Regency right across from the Orange County Convention Center, Fiorenzo is a great Italian fine dining destination for convention goers. It features everything from classic pizza and pasta dishes, to light dishes like an endive and watercress salad, to a 2o oz rib eye for hearty appetites. 9801 International Drive, 407 345 4570, Contact
- Backstage Billiards: If you’re looking for a place to unwind over a few drinks, you can’t beat Backstage Billiards. Just three miles from the convention center, it features 22 pool tables, 7 dart boards, and daily drink specials in a fun, casual environment. Best of all, it’s open until 3:00 AM. 5656 International Drive, 407 345 0203, Contact
