Symmetry, a leading enterprise focused application management and cloud hosting solutions provider, today announced that Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT), one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of high performance wire and cable including optical fiber, has selected Symmetry to lead its migration to SAP HANA® along with expanded SAP hosting and consulting services.
CarlisleIT is one of five Carlisle Corporation portfolio divisions. All are focused on rapid business growth through market development and business transformation initiatives leveraging industry-leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions from SAP.
CarlisleIT and Symmetry have been partners since 2010 when CarlisleIT selected Symmetry to host their global SAP implementation and provide SAP Basis technical remote managed services. Today, having recognized the performance potential of SAP HANA to leverage big-data into market growth initiatives, CarlisleIT again turned to Symmetry. Initial efforts were centered on implementing a sidecar deployment of SAP Business Warehouse in Symmetry’s HANA Cloud. The initial success of this initial project led CarlisleIT to make the decision to migrate their entire SAP ECC ERP environment into Symmetry’s HANA Cloud.
“CarlisleIT’s business is growing and will continue to do so. Migrating the data to a Cloud environment will provide increased efficiency, along with numerous options for improving business processes, applications and services while enabling a stable and improved ERP platform managed in Symmetry’s data center, providing improved response time and 24/7 support”, said Pragna Patel, Director of IT for CarlisleIT. “Our business transformation is being powered by SAP, and Symmetry has been a valued partner in the development of our business and technology roadmaps. Their SAP and managed infrastructure expertise, combined with a high-touch consultative approach, has been instrumental in our migration to Suite on HANA that is achieving rapid time to value.”
SAP HANA is based on the emergence of in-memory database processing designed to support transactions and complex query processing on the same data set. It is enabling massive improvement in end-user response times associated with a wide range of ERP and business functions – particularly those tied to big data and real-time business and revenue reporting. It is redefining the enterprise ERP marketplace and marks the beginning of a major market shift.
According to a recent Gartner strategic planning assumption 1
- Through 2018, despite falling server hardware costs, end-user response time will remain a critical success factor for all ERP implementation projects. By 2018, at least 50% of large organizations will have adopted in-memory computing (IMC) to enable digital business strategies.
- By 2020, 35% of SAP Business Suite customers will be running S/4HANA.
“CarlisleIT is a dynamic company with complex IT requirements,” said Peter Stevenson, Chairman and CEO of Symmetry. “By investing in SAP HANA, CarlisleIT is signaling that they are truly a leading edge, technology-driven company. We are pleased to bring market-defining innovation and proven services together to create a high performance IT environment that supports CarlisleIT’s business growth initiatives. Our culture is built on the commitment to serve as a true operating extension of our customers’ IT organization, and we are very excited about what CarlisleIT, SAP and Symmetry are doing together. It’s a great model for how technology can truly make businesses more responsive and efficient to the needs of their customers.”
